A job posting on LinkedIn says that the Walt Disney Company wants to hire a transaction lawyer to look into new technology opportunities, such as NFTs, on a “accelerated and aggressive timeline.”

“Partner with business teams as they plan new global emerging technology projects,” the job ad said “across other areas, such as the metaverse and decentralised finance.

“Help with due diligence for NFT, blockchain, third-party marketplace, and cloud provider projects, as well as negotiating and writing complex agreements for these projects,” the job listing said.

Saturday morning, the post went up on LinkedIn. Deadline said that on September 10, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said at the D23 Expo fan convention that the company is looking into the metaverse and making plans for it. In June, the Mickey Mouse conglomerate hired a longtime Apple executive as vice president of “Next Generation Storytelling Creative Experiences.” The following month, it promoted a consumer experiences executive to executive vice president of “Next Generation Storytelling & Consumer Experiences.”

“We call it next-gen storytelling,” Chapek told Deadline backstage at the expo in Anaheim on Sept 10.

“We don’t use the M word too often because it has a lot of hair on it.”

When asked for a comment, Disney did not answer right away.

The Walt & Mickey “Partners” NFT was taken off the VeVe app for iOS and Android last year.

The new lawyer will work in Walt Disney Company’s legal department, in its corporate transaction unit. He or she should have at least five years of experience managing and running complex corporate transactions, preferably at a large multinational law firm with an internationally recognised corporate practise.
